The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.

The faculty's research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers six Bachelor and twenty Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.

The successful candidate will work in the Luxembourg team of the "Health Behaviour in School-aged Children - HBSC" network supervised by Dr. Carolina Catunda (www.hbsc.lu). The HBSC network is an international cooperation of researchers that collaborate on the cross-national survey of school-aged children (www.hbsc.org). HBSC collects survey data every four years on adolescent's health and well-being, social environments and health behaviours. The aim of the project is to understand young people's health in their social context. The data collected is analysed both at the national and international level.

The HBSC Luxembourg country team is part of the Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (CCY) within the Department of Social Sciences. The CCY comprises a multidisciplinary research team that examines the conditions and opportunity structures of growing up against the backdrop of social change and inequalities. It maintains strong links to other institutes and relevant organizations within and beyond the department both nationally and internationally.

Your Role...

  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator and the other team members in assisting them in their daily tasks
  • Organise and prepare meetings/events and arrange facilities (in collaboration with internal and external services)
  • Draft and distribute the minutes of the meetings
  • Arrange professional travel for the team members
  • Keep track of purchase orders, invoices, and travel expenses
  • Keep track of the annual budget
  • Proofread translated documents (reports, factsheets, flyers etc.)
  • Support the maintenance of the website and other marketing material
  • Contribute to recruitment process for new employees and/or students
  • Organisation of the event for the public launch of the 2022 Reports in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Security/Health Direction and the Ministry of Education
  • Organise the administrative tasks of the next survey round due in 2026 in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Security/Health Direction, the Ministry of Education, and the schools in Luxembourg
  • Provide general administrative support within the framework of the CCY if needed

What we expect from you…

  • Higher education in office management (Bac+2/+3)
  • A minimum of two years' secretarial experience
  • Proficiency with modern office software
  • Good knowledge of IT Tools (Canva, social networks, Webex etc)
  • Applicant must be fluent in French and have a very good command of English. Knowledge of German and/or Luxembourgish is considered an asset
  • Good organizational and planning skills, with strong attention to details
  • Must be able to work on her/his own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Good team player and ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment
