We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Systems Engineer to join our client's team and ensure the stability, security, and performance of mission-critical environments.
You will be responsible for managing and optimizing z/OS, CICS, IBM MQ, and IMS subsystems, while driving automation and compliance in a high-availability setting.

You will be responsible for managing and optimizing z/OS, CICS, IBM MQ, and IMS subsystems, while driving automation and compliance in a high-availability setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain z/OS, CICS, IBM MQ, and IMS software in line with enterprise standards and lifecycle best practices.
- Apply PTFs and APARs, manage patching and tuning to keep systems secure and up-to-date.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues, including dump analysis, performance tuning, and escalated incident support.
- Customize subsystem parameters and manage regions, started tasks, queue managers, and address spaces for CICS, MQ, and IMS.
- Automate operational tasks using JCL, REXX, and CLIST for monitoring, administration, and recovery.
- Collaborate with application, database, and network teams to ensure seamless integration of middleware and core platform components.
- Implement robust security and compliance measures (e.g., RACF, SOX, PCI-DSS).
- Participate in disaster recovery drills and infrastructure tests to maintain business continuity.
- Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, procedures, and change management activities.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer supporting z/OS, CICS, MQ, and IMS.
- Strong knowledge of SMP/E, system software upgrades, and subsystem customization.
- Expertise in mainframe security administration (RACF or equivalent) and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (JCL, REXX, CLIST) and familiarity with monitoring tools.
- Proven track record in high-availability environments and incident resolution.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with tools like OMEGAMON, Tivoli, or NetView.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery frameworks (e.g., GDPS).
- Exposure to financial services or other regulated industries.
