The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) at the University of Luxembourg contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine. Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.

Your role

The Department of Engineering (DoE) is a dynamic, interdisciplinary group engaged in civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, driving forward innovative research and solutions.

The Technical Support Unit (TSU) of the Department of Engineering seeks a candidate to strengthen their team. The candidate will support the TSU research support activities, working with PhD students, Post-doctoral researchers & Professors of the DoE. More specifically, the duties of this position are the following:

  • Work with Concrete, Steel, Composite and Geotechnical structures
  • Production of samples: (un) molding, preparing, placing reinforcement, concreting
  • Perform various manual tasks under the supervision of the research support engineers (scientific test preparation and execution, setup of new equipment, test procedures)
  • Support the craftsmen with (drilling, cutting, grinding)
  • Maintenance of the laboratories and its equipment: archiving, storing, recycling
  • Updating the inventories (spare parts, sensors, scientific equipment)

Your profile

  • Ability to execute standard mechanical jobs (cutting, drilling, painting)
  • Good command of MS Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Driving licenses for forklift, crane, car (B) are an advantage
  • Good oral and written expression of English
  • Knowledge of French, German and Luxembourgish are an advantage
  • Ability to work proactively, independently
  • Willingness to learn new skills and good adaptability
