Your Role...

The University of Luxembourg is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research and Development Specialist focused on software development to join the BrainSat project. This project aims to revolutionize satellite communications by leveraging brain-inspired neuromorphic computing techniques. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing software solutions, including spiking neural network (SNN) models, for on-board satellite communication systems.

The successful candidates are expected to perform the following tasks:

  • Develop and implement SNN-based algorithms for satellite communication applications
  • Conduct literature reviews and stay updated with the latest advancements in neuromorphic computing and satellite communications
  • Develop system models and simulations using MATLAB, python, and other relevant tools
  • Generate training data and develop AI/ML models for benchmarking against neuromorphic solutions
  • Collaborate with the hardware R&D specialist to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware solutions
  • Participate in testing campaigns and analyze the results to improve system performance

Your Profile...

  • A Master or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in software development, particularly in AI/ML
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, and experience with software frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Experience with satellite communication systems is highly desirable
  • Experience with spiking neural networks (SNNs) is highly desirable but not mandatory
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
