The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine. Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens, in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.

Within the Security and Networking Research Group (SECAN-Lab) headed by Prof. Dr. Thomas Engel the following opening is avaiable: PostDoc in Network Communications.

Your Role...

  • Concept, implementation and evaluation of procedures for secure and GDPR-compliant communication for modern network topologies and applications, as for example quantum networks
  • Development of suitable demonstrations
  • Integration and validation of new algorithms
  • Participation in the definition and implementation of new research questions in computer networks at the intersection of physics and computer science
  • Cooperation and knowledge transfer with industrial partners
  • Coordination and participation in research projects
  • Publication of scientific results

What we expect from you…

  • Doctorate in computer science, physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline
  • Sound knowledge of at least one high-level programming language (e.g. Java, C/C++) and one scripting language (e.g. Perl, Python)
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix
  • Knowledge of quantum networking, data mining, machine learning, statistics and visualization are considered as an advantage
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
  • Communication skills and talents in teamwork
