The Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) is a research centre for the study, analysis and public dissemination of contemporary history of Luxembourg and Europe with a particular focus on digital methods and tools for doing innovative historical research. It serves as a catalyst for innovative and creative scholarship and new forms of public dissemination and societal engagement with history.

Europe Direct at the University of Luxembourg (ED-UNILU) is a competitive project co-funded by the European Commission (2021-2025) (Ref.ED-COMM/LUX/ED/003/BELVAL/2021-2025).

ED-UNILU organises academic and public activities - lectures, seminars, discussions and exhibitions -, and offers a wide range of information about the history of European integration, the EU institutions and the workings and policies of a united Europe. Europe Direct University of Luxembourg maximises the potential of its location at the heart of the Greater Region, in one of the EU's permanent capitals. It makes a major contribution to citizen education, especially among young people, raising awareness about the European Union's policies and helping develop teaching and research on European integration in Luxembourg. Located in the Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC) on Belval Campus, Europe Direct University of Luxembourg is coordinated by the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) - the University's third interdisciplinary research centre, which focuses on high-quality research, analysis and public dissemination in the field of contemporary Luxembourgish and European history.

Your Role...

  • Receiving members of the public at the ED-UNILU office in the Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC) - Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm
  • Answering questions about the European Union from members of the public, including explaining EU institutions, policies and/or mechanisms
  • Organising ED-UNILU events such as conferences, debates or virtual tours; collaboration with the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg and the European Parliament Office in Luxembourg such as creating visuals, invitations and posters, producing brochures/publications
  • Monthly activity reporting on the intranet of the Europe Direct network via the European Commission website, as well as updating regularly the ED-UNILU pages on the University website
  • Coordinating social media activity for ED-UNILU and regularly updating ED-UNILU mailing list
  • Close cooperation with other Europe Direct centres and with European institutions and European Schools in the Greater Region
  • Handling the administrative process required for the above activities, such as creating purchase orders, booking conference rooms, or travel arrangements for guests

What we expect from you…

  • Graduate secretary or equivalent experience in that area
  • 3-5 years of experience in administration/secretary's office, preferably in a European institution
  • Relevant knowledge in European history, EU institutions, mechanisms, policies
  • Proven ability to effectively engage with external public in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
  • Language skills: Fluency in English and French. Knowledge of German and/or Luxembourgish is considered an asset
