There's nothing like attending a recruitment fair to showcase your skills and meet recruiters face-to-face! The main reason for attending this type of event is to make a good impression.

Remember, it's all about the first 30 seconds: the look, the smile, the handshake and, last but not least, the physical appearance.

At the job fair, you'll probably take part in several mini job interviews. That's why it's important to also present yourself at the fair as if you were going to a job interview.

As each sector has its own dress code, you'll also need to adapt your attire to your sector of activity. For example, a suit and tie or a pantsuit are preferable for jobs in finance, law or customer relations. In other sectors, a less formal, more casual attire is appropriate.

To help you better understand all of this, we've prepared various examples that are valid for all sectors, to prevent you from committing a fashion faux pas. 😊

First of all, it's best to go for a casual look, such as pants or a skirt, with a shirt, ironed blouse or polo shirt, with or without a jacket. Use neutral colors (black, white, beige, navy blue, pale pink, etc.), while adding touches of color (accessories, ....). But don’t try to mix and match without a thought. The rule that works every time: don't mix more than 3 colors in one outfit.

On the contrary, it's imperative to ban offending prints, plunging necklines, excessively short dresses or skirts, sweatpants, ripped clothes, shorts, sweatshirts, earphones in ears or caps.... And don't forget to iron the clothes you're going to wear before the job fair!

Ladies, opt for discreet make-up, a natural hairstyle and put aside your pumps if you don’t feel at ease in them. A good pair of sneakers will do just as well. Don't forget that you'll be standing and walking for the majority of the fair.

Gentlemen, if you wish to wear a beard, it should be neat and nicely trimmed. Otherwise, don't forget to shave before the event.

To finish off, a touch of perfume or eau de toilette will be much appreciated by recruiters, as long as you don’t use too much of it! And don't forget a peppermint drop to keep your breath fresh. 😉

The most important thing to remember is to take care of your appearance but to remain yourself at the same time!
