About the LCSB
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg.
We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and their contributing factors. The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. We excel because we are truly interdisciplinary, and together we contribute to science and society.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Scientific Platform Coordinator, as part of LCSB`s Scientific Platforms, in close alignment with the Bioinformatics Core Group and the LCSB Director.
The LCSB is internationally recognized for GDPR compliant data hosting solutions and data management systems. We develop innovative methodologies for data mining, federated data analysis, and data FAIRification. We strongly advocate following responsible and reproducible research (R3) principles to raise research quality and increase the overall reproducibility of scientific results.
Your role
The LCSB explores opportunities to improve reproducibility, reliability, and resilience of its research output, especially concerning complex biomedical data. These activities are grouped under the Responsible and Reproducible Research (R3) initiative. R3 activities include data integration and management, development of bioinformatics workflows and dedicated research software, and trainings focused on research reproducibility, data security and compliance.
You will manage the implementation of the R3 strategy and its activities involving LCSB Research Groups and Scientific Platforms and actively communicate with stakeholders to define plausible use cases. You will be involved in developing the long-term strategy for bioinformatic services at LCSB together with Bioinformatics Core Group.
Tasks:
- Develop and implement an R3 strategic roadmap (including goals, deliverables, key performance indicators (KPIs) in close alignment with the Bioinformatics Core Group and the LCSB Director
- Interact regularly with LCSB Research Groups and Scientific Platforms to monitor ongoing R3 activities, to analyse workflows and to identify opportunities for new R3 activities. Prepare regular reports and timely follow-up on progress, status, and outstanding issues of managed activities
- Ensure implementation of FAIR principles and GDPR regulations to fulfil data privacy and security
- Coordinate and support the organisation of relevant training and information sessions and disseminate R3 best practices, activities and outcomes via publications and conference participations.
- In general, stay informed about emerging bioinformatic services and evaluate internal bioinformatic service needs by consulting with LCSB stakeholders, and identify opportunities for collaboration and service enhancement
- In alignment with the Bioinformatics Core Group, be the contact point for bioinformatics support
