Senior Accountant
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee our accounting operations by managing and verifying financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle verification, allocation, posting, and reconciliation of accounts payable and receivable as well as bank and general ledger transactions.
- Generate accurate accounting reports and present findings.
- Analyze financial data and summarize financial status.
- Provide technical support and advice for management accounting.
- Review and suggest improvements to accounting systems and procedures to minimize errors.
- Supervise accounting assistants and bookkeepers.
- Engage in the financial standards setting and forecasting processes.
- Contribute to the department's goal-setting initiatives.
- Prepare financial statements and budgets according to timelines.
- Assist with tax and VAT audits and preparation of tax returns.
- Lead internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
- Plan, delegate, and review staff work.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain robust internal controls.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP principles.
- Work closely with our Financial Manager and Accounting Manager to enhance financial procedures.
- Prepare and process payments in the online banking system.
- Monitor and analyze the cash flow budget.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Supervisor, Chief Accountant, or Senior Accountant.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Awareness of current business trends.
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
- Expertise in general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software (experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is advantageous).
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong numerical and quantitative skills.
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Knowledge of consolidation procedures is a plus.
- Proficiency in English and French; Italian is a plus.
