We are looking for an experienced Officer, Credit Risk for a 1-year temporary assignment in the Credit Risk and Governance team coordinated by the Lead Senior Officer, Credit Risk and Governance, within the Risk Management division. The selected candidate will be responsible for assessing and monitoring a selection of issuers and counterparties, advancing credit risk methodologies, quantitative credit risk analyses such as Risk Management’s climate risk scenario assessments, and supporting the development of credit risk reports for senior management. S/he will report to the Head of Risk Management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Contribute to the Credit Risk and Governance team to advance the assessments for counterparties, such as financial institutions, central clearing counterparties, sovereigns and government-related entities
- Support the advancement of credit risk measurement methodologies (Credit Value-at-Risk, Expected Shortfall)
- Further develop the ESM Risk Management’s climate risk scenarios, especially for sovereigns to which the ESM has credit exposures
- Monitor and assess the credit risk for a selection of issuers and counterparties
- Contribute to the development of credit risk reports for risk committees on ESM/EFSF investment portfolios and on counterparty credit risk exposures.
KEY BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE
- Advanced university degree in finance, risk management, economics, business administration, or related fields
- At least five years of relevant experience in risk management, credit ratings, financial supervision, financial stability, and/or economic analyses
- Good understanding of risk management methodologies and tools for credit risk
- Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI) skills
- Excellent oral and written English skills; any additional language would be an asset
- Experience with complex data management techniques and applications would be a plus
- Experience in managing cross-departmental projects would be a plus
