Java Developer (H/F)

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to design, develop and maintain robust, scalable and secure backend applications.

You will work within an Agile development team and contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to testing, code review and production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend applications using Java and the Spring ecosystem.
• Build and maintain REST APIs and service-oriented or microservices-based applications.
• Participate in software architecture and technical design decisions.
• Develop clean, maintainable and reusable code following SOLID principles and established design patterns.
• Write unit, integration and automated tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Perform code reviews and contribute to development standards and best practices.
• Analyse and resolve application performance, reliability and production issues.
• Work with relational databases and optimise SQL queries when necessary.
• Contribute to application security, authentication/authorization and secure coding practices.
• Integrate backend applications with internal and external systems through APIs and messaging technologies.
• Collaborate closely with developers, architects, QA engineers, Product Owners and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the development team.
• Support CI/CD practices and application deployment activities without being primarily responsible for infrastructure operations.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong professional experience with Java, ideally Java 17/21+.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Framework and related technologies.
• Solid experience developing RESTful APIs.
• Good understanding of microservices and distributed architectures.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle or MySQL.
• Experience with persistence frameworks such as JPA/Hibernate.
• Strong knowledge of automated testing using tools such as JUnit, Mockito and integration-testing frameworks.
• Experience with Maven or Gradle.
• Good command of Git and modern software development workflows.
• Understanding of application security concepts, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect and JWT.
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines and containerised environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ or other event-driven/messaging technologies.
• Experience working with Kubernetes environments.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of API documentation technologies such as OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Experience with observability solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Elastic Stack or OpenTelemetry.
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Clean Architecture or Hexagonal Architecture.
• Experience with performance optimisation and high-availability systems.

Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• Typically 5+ years of professional Java development experience, with significant experience in backend development.
• Proven experience working on complex enterprise applications.
• Professional proficiency in English.
