About Goodyear

We’re dedicated to producing, innovating, and servicing the best tires in the world. For over 125 years, Goodyear has led the way in developing smart solutions that shape the future of mobility. Today, we’re one global team united by bold thinking, relentless drive, and a passion to exceed expectations. If you’re ready to embrace change and make an impact in your career, let’s go.

Why This Role Matters

As an Engineer on the Global Tire Intelligence & Solutions (GTIS) team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of tire intelligence and mobility solutions. Your work will enable vehicles to better understand and respond to their environment, helping OEMs and fleet customers improve safety, efficiency, and performance. By combining your expertise in vehicle dynamics, tire mechanics, and state estimation, you’ll lead the creation of algorithms that form the foundation of real-time, intelligent vehicle systems—making a tangible impact on the future of mobility.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development of advanced algorithms that fuse vehicle sensor data (e.g., CAN, IMU, TPMS) using state estimation techniques such as Kalman filters, particle filters, or observers.
  • Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert, shaping the strategy for dynamic state sensing, estimation, and control.
  • Guide projects that enhance tire-based estimations of vehicle load, slip, wear, friction, and other performance metrics.
  • Mentor and support algorithm developers in modelling, filtering, and dynamic system analysis.
  • Collaborate with global, cross-functional teams to translate innovative research into production-ready solutions.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape and ensure Goodyear’s IP portfolio remains differentiated.
  • Represent Goodyear externally as a recognized expert in estimation-based vehicle dynamics algorithms.

What You’ll Bring

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Controls, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 7+ years of experience in algorithm development, vehicle dynamics, or estimation systems.
  • Deep understanding of vehicle dynamics, tire mechanics, and real-time estimation algorithms.
  • Hands-on experience with Kalman filtering (EKF/UKF), observers, or sensor fusion algorithms for dynamic systems.
  • Proficiency in simulation environments such as CarMaker, VI-Grade, or CarSim, and practical experience with tire modeling and testing data interpretation.
  • Ability to implement estimation algorithms on embedded or real-time platforms and lead their transition from prototype to production.
  • Strong mentoring, communication, and collaboration skills to support and inspire global teams.
  • Passion for connected mobility, intelligent sensing, and software-defined vehicle functions.

We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Even if you don’t meet every listed qualification, we encourage you to apply.
