Le marché de l'emploi pour les jeunes au Luxembourg en 2025

Despite a challenging economic climate, the Luxembourg job market continues to be a vibrant pool for young talent. As of 1 January 2025, the population is estimated at 682,000. On the business side, the latest official STATEC figures date back to 2022 and reported around 45,000 companies. Based on the growth curve of recent years, we can now estimate that there are nearly 48,000 companies in 2025, of which approximately 21,000 have at least one employee.

Key sectors such as IT, finance, healthcare and construction continue to show strong demand for new junior talent with technical and cross-functional skills. Thanks to the diversity and abundance of job opportunities, competitive salaries and attractive benefits, as well as its rich multicultural environment, the Grand Duchy is particularly attractive to Generations Y and Z, who appreciate the dynamism of Luxembourg’s labour market.

Sectors recruiting the most junior profiles

While all sectors are represented in Luxembourg, some show particularly strong demand for young professionals with up to two years’ experience. According to recent Moovijob.com data:

CFL and POST Luxembourg, Luxembourg's first and third largest employers in 2025, will be present at Unicareers 2025,

the largest job fair for students and young professionals in Luxembourg.

Most sought-after profiles

In Luxembourg, language skills remain a decisive asset. Currently on Moovijob.com, French is the most requested language (more than 70% of offers), followed by German (27%), then closely by English (24%), and finally Luxembourgish, which accounts for just over 10% of demand.

Notable fact: demand for German is growing every year and even exceeded English in September 2025.

As for qualifications, and unlike in 2024, Bachelor’s degree holders are now the most sought-after (28% of offers), whereas Master’s degrees represented 30% in 2024 and only 25% this year.

Labour market trends for young talent

Young graduates show strong mobility, exploring various sectors and regions to broaden their experience. Remote work, flexible hours and work-life balance remain at the top of their priorities.

Their motivation rests on two pillars: maximising income while preserving time for leisure, travel and personal projects.

At the same time, ethical and societal aspects are gaining importance. Many favour companies that are committed to sustainable development and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
