Your mission :

This position is responsible for incident resolution and request handling on the Datacenter network and security infrastructure scope.

Responsibilities include installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, monitoring, capacity management and maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls, NAC, load balancers, web application firewalls, proxies, DNS and VPN connectivity.

Datacenter infrastructure is a mixed Cisco ACI and Cisco Nexus environment. Security technologies are mainly PaloAlto/Checkpoint/Fortinet/Cisco FirePower firewalls, F5 load balancers and WAF, Infoblox and Efficient IP DNS. Upgrades to network and security infrastructure typically require work outside business hours to avoid user disruption.

Position functions as Level II / Level III support and will be responsible for handling and resolving end-user tickets if level I is not able to treat them. Position is also part of the On-call role 24/7 once every 5 weeks to intervene on service interruption based on major incidents.

The Network and Security Engineer work closely with vendors and manufacturer staff to coordinate operation and repair, and to determine and correct problems that may occur during set-up and operation. Consults with vendors and manufacturers regarding product compatibility, investigate user complaints of malfunctioning equipment; isolates the fault and makes repairs where appropriate.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Installation, configuration, monitoring and incident/problem resolution of Network
  • switching equipment and routing equipment
  • Monitoring and incident/problem resolution of security equipment
  • Installation, configuration of part of the security equipment
  • Patch/upgrade systems to maintain the required security and support levels
  • Monitor performance and capacity of the infrastructure
  • Works closely with users to understand needs, define and solve incidents/problems
  • Instructs users in order to avoid recurring incidents/problems
  • Maintains a current knowledge of changes in the data communications field

Your profile :

  • A bachelor’s degree in IT or IT Security, or equivalent professional competencies supported by relevant certifications and extensive experience.
  • Hardware, software and networking protocols utilized in LAN, WAN and related data communication systems, including fiber optics and peripheral equipment
  • LAN switch and router management
  • Router protocols and setup
  • TCP/IP communication
  • VLAN expertise
  • Configure and troubleshoot networking technologies, including MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
  • Cisco IOS software (ACI is a plus)
  • Firewalls and VPN servers
  • Syslogs and syslog servers
  • The use and care of tools and equipment related to the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and upgrading of a variety of data/security networks and communication hardware and software
  • Record keeping practices and procedures

Ability to:

  • Prioritize competing requests for service, multiple tasks, and organize schedules to meet SLA and deadline requirements
  • Explain technical information to non-technical users
  • Prepare clear, concise reports, documentation and correspondence
  • Communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Work professionally and productively with all who are involved in the course of work, including other team members, other departments, Project Managers, Service Delivery Managers, customers
  • Experience with LAN and security equipment which should include Cisco routers, Cisco switches (Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification is a plus), at least 2 firewall brands (Palo Alto is a plus), F5 load balancer (WAF and other modules is a plus)
