On 28 January, the Luxembourg Government unveiled a new digital portal, “Work in Luxembourg”, alongside a physical “Talent Desk”. These initiatives are designed to attract international talent to Luxembourg to maintain the country’s competitiveness in the face of global competition.

Attracting skilled workers from around the world

The objective is clear: Luxembourg aims to attract workers from across the globe to remain highly competitive. The Luxembourg labour market is already international, employing a substantial number of foreign nationals. With this strategy, the Government intends to strengthen its appeal well beyond the Greater Region

In its official statement, the Government explains: "These initiatives, developed in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, the Chambre des métiers, ADEM and Luxinnovation, form part of the Government’s strategy to attract, retain and develop the skills essential to the competitiveness and innovation of the Luxembourg economy."

The Minister of Labour, Marc Spautz, adds: "To remain competitive and attractive at the international level, we must continue to attract skilled talent and support our businesses in responding to the rapid transformations of the labour market. The new WorkinLuxembourg portal constitutes an important tool for connecting this talent with the opportunities offered by our companies."

The platform already hosts nearly 11,000 candidates from around the world. These profiles have been preselected by ADEM, which is responsible for publishing vacancies in shortage occupations, thereby targeting the most relevant international candidates to fill them.

A drive to centralise information

The website workinluxembourg.com was created to centralise information relating to talent attraction in Luxembourg. As a result, individuals from abroad who wish to work in the country can now access all relevant information in one place, without spending hours conducting their own research. The administrative steps required to relocate to Luxembourg are now easier than ever

The portal is currently available in English, with plans for translation into multiple languages. Further synergies are also expected, notably between the site’s chatbot and other Government platforms such as guichet.lu to simplify procedures.

A platform structured around three main pillars

Work here: This section outlines working conditions, career opportunities and Luxembourg’s key industries. It provides an overview of the Luxembourg labour market and the prospects the country can offer.

Live here: Dedicated to life in Luxembourg, this section covers topics such as family life, education and culture, highlighting the country’s quality of life.

Get started: This section provides practical guidance for relocating to Luxembourg, including job opportunities, housing solutions, and procedures for visas, residence, and work permits.

"Talent Desk": bringing the physical and digital together

Alongside the online portal, a Talent Desk has been established in Kirchberg, near the House of Entrepreneurship. It serves as a physical contact point to support newcomers with their relocation and integration into Luxembourg.
