Simply posting a job offer isn’t always enough to find the right candidate quickly. To boost efficiency and tap into a pool of qualified talent, more and more recruiters are using CV databases. But what exactly is a CV database, and how can you make the most of it?

Why CV databases have become essential in recruitment

A CV database is a collection of candidate profiles where individuals have entered their professional information (experience, skills, location, etc.) and agreed to be contacted by recruiters. It allows companies to adopt a proactive approach by reaching out directly to relevant profiles, without waiting for applications to come in.

As Nicolas, Sourcing & Campus Manager at Moovijob.com, puts it:

"Recruitment is a proactive process. You can’t just post an offer and sit back, waiting for applicants. You need a broader, more complete approach. It’s like a fisherman sitting still, waiting for a bite. That’s what I call a passive strategy."

A CV database is a particularly valuable tool in times of talent shortages or when recruiting for high-demand roles. It effectively complements job ad postings, helps target passive candidates, and saves significant time in both shortlisting and first contact.

What makes our CV database unique

At Moovijob.com, we provide recruiters with a specialised CV database focused entirely on the Luxembourg and cross-border job market. Today, it includes more than 250,000 profiles, making it the largest in Luxembourg!

Two complementary profile sources

Our CV database is divided into two distinct sections:

  • The Moovijob.com CV database includes all candidates with an account on the job board section of our website.
  • The event CV database, which features profiles of individuals registered for our events (Moovijob Day, Moovijob Night, Moovijob Week, Unicareers). Companies that take part in these events get exclusive access to these profiles for one month before they become generally available.

Powerful and precise search tools

Recruiters can search profiles:

  • Using keywords and Boolean expressions via the built-in search engine;
  • And refine the results with detailed filters: jobs, location, work permit, type of contract, experience, educational level, languages, driver’s licence, working time, or even own vehicle.

Note: candidates aren’t required to fill in every field. Some profiles may not appear depending on the filters you apply. To avoid missing out on promising candidates, we’ve introduced an option to include incomplete profiles for any given criteria.

Time-saving features

Several useful options help enhance the experience:

  • Create alerts from a search: receive an email notification whenever a new profile matching your criteria is added. You can choose the frequency (daily, weekly, or monthly).
  • Smart geographical filter: prioritise candidates based on their proximity to Luxembourg, a great feature for identifying profiles available soon.

Example of a search on the Moovijob.com CV database:

Filter "Jobs" = "IT Development" / Keyword = "Java" / Sorted by "Last activity"

Accessing a CV database is good. Knowing how to use it is even better!

The success of a CV database depends on how you use it. Here are a few tips to help you fine-tune your searches and increase your chances of finding the perfect fit:

1. Use keywords wisely

Filters are useful, but not always enough. Use relevant keywords in your search, and consider different variations or related technical terms.

For example: when looking for a developer, try "developer", "dev", or specific tools and languages like "Java", "React", "Python"...

2. Sort by last activity

Focus on the most active profiles by sorting your search by "last activity". This increases your chances of contacting candidates who are responsive and currently available.

3. Combine filters and keywords

The best way to target the right profile is to combine several criteria. A refined search helps avoid irrelevant results and narrows down your options more accurately.

4. Create multiple alerts

Try out different combinations: a highly targeted alert for your top priorities, and a broader one so you don’t miss any potential opportunities. Alerts are easy to update over time.

Example: Create an alert using the keyword "Java" and the job role filter "IT Development".

5. Check the CV database regularly

New profiles are added every day. Regularly consulting the database helps you stay ahead of the game and spot promising candidates before your competitors do.

And that’s just the beginning. There are plenty more techniques, best practices and insider tips to help you get even more from your searches and work more efficiently... But to explore them, you’ll need access to the platform.
