We are currently recruiting for one of our clients a:
Technical Accountant - Reinsurance sector
Consultant position (6 months) within a Luxembourg-based non-life reinsurance company. Reporting directly to the Technical Accounting Manager and CFO, the role focuses on technical accounting, financial reporting, and monitoring of reinsurance activities in collaboration with underwriting, actuarial, and finance teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and validating technical and accounting data related to reinsurance contracts
- Monitoring receivables, payables, premium collections, and claims payments
- Supporting monthly financial and technical reporting for management purposes
- Contributing to regulatory and solvency reporting activities
- Liaising with brokers, cedants, auditors, and internal stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and timely processing
- Assisting in process improvements and maintaining strong financial controls
Requirements
YOUR PROFILE
Education:
-Minimum Bac +3/college degree (or equivalent) with additional professional qualification or training in accounting.
-At least 5 years of experience as an accountant in a Luxembourg-based company, with a solid understanding of Lux GAAP accounting principles.
Additional Knowledge:
-Familiarity with insurance and/or reinsurance contract rules under Lux GAAP, US GAAP, and/or IFRS is an asset.
Industry Insight: Understanding the legal wording of insurance and reinsurance contracts and knowledge of the Luxembourg (re-)insurance industry is advantageous.
Preferred Skills
Communication: Strong communication skills.
Personal Traits: Analytical, IT-savvy, data solution-oriented, forward-thinking, initiative-taking, dynamic, striving for excellence, and culturally aware.
Relevant Experience: 2-3 years minimum experience in a similar role within an insurance or reinsurance company in a country subject to the Solvency II Directive or equivalent regulatory legislation.
Alternatively, relevant experience in a captive management company or an accounting firm providing services for insurance/reinsurance companies.
Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a small to medium-sized team within a large group.
Languages
English and French: Mandatory, with at least a C1 level in both oral and written communication.
Accounting Systems: Substantial working experience with at least one accounting IT system; experience with BOB 50 is an asset.
MS Office and Excel: Advanced knowledge.
