The profession of the mechatronic engineer, sometimes referred to as an Automation technician or electromechanical engineer, combines several fields of expertise such as electronics, computer science and mechanics. His/her primary task consists in designing programs and automated systems to improve processes and machines.
The mechatronics engineer can work in diverse industries, but he or she will find most opportunities in transportation. This work includes diagnosing various mechanical, electrical or electronical dysfunctions.
To become a mechatronic technician in Luxembourg, you will usually need a level bac +2 or bac +3 specialized in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics. It can also be required to obtain a Master's degree in Mechatronics or an engineering degree. To increase your chances of being recruited, it will often be necessary to master Computer Aided Manufacturing/Design (CAD / CAM / CFAO) or Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CAO / DAO) tools.
