Even if the Covid-19 crisis has brought its own consequences, there is one that we are very happy to welcome: the evolution of teleworking habits. Once limited to an "elite" group of IT developers or people who have been negotiating hard for a workday at home per month, working from home has managed to settle deeply into the practices of Luxembourg companies in a record time.

Telecommuting is more and more sought after by candidates
Thanks to its attractive salaries and its numerous opportunities, Luxembourg remains a country that knows how to attract and retain its talents. However, young (and not so young) candidates arriving in the Grand Duchy are now looking for more than just a good salary. According to a recent study mentioned in Le Quotidien, "almost half of the 18-24 age group would refuse a job without teleworking". That should give companies pause. According to the Luxembourg Employers’ Association UEL (Union des Entreprises Luxembourgeoises) in January 2023 "40% of the companies admit that they have already lost a potential candidate because they did not offer enough telework"
Unfortunately, teleworking has not always been in a good position, especially since the beginning of 2023 when border workers have seen the end of unlimited home office work in Luxembourg.

So, to avoid losing attractiveness, it is important to implement measures allowing all employees to work from home, regardless of their country of residence (in accordance with governmental measures) and especially to make it known to newcomers in order to attract more and more applications.
