The ICT sector is providing a large number of jobs, especially in development projects. Among all job vacancies, Java dev and web dev (PHP, HTML, etc.) jobs are the most represented in Luxembourg. Recruiters also look for programmers, specialised in many other technologies and languages.
For instance, with the increasing use of cell phone, came along the development of mobile applications (through iOS or Android) - and therefore the recruitment needs for mobile developers. Communication between applications have intensify, and we now need integrators, whose job consists in integrate applications in existing information systems. He/she is expected to have skills in programming, as well as in infrastructure, systems, and networks.
While browsing job ads through Moovijob, you will notice employers are IT services companies, that offer IT consulting missions to their employees. Some of them have been specialising in software/editing (SAP, Temenos, Microsoft, etc.), or have remained generalist.
Job descriptions may differ for developers, but the fact remains, recruiters are looking for profiles with a common basis. Indeed, methodologies to generate code are essential if you want to make the difference in your application. When recruiting, employers are quite flexible when it comes to education background for senior profiles, and it is quite common to work in remote. Nevertheless, if you are a junior, they will likely ask you to have at least a two-year technical degree. The master's degree or title of engineer still remains an asset for more specific function or project.
The ICT sector is very dynamic in the country and employs many people, among which are mostly cross-border workers.
