    • The aim of any transfer agent is to facilitate the international distribution of European coordinated funds in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg – which is the main meeting and exchange place. Some management companies need a transfer agent when they want to market abroad their UCITS.
    As a transfer agent – or “agent de transfert” in French – you oversee the companies' share books. Your job is to ensure that the information related to each company’s shares is updated and available. As a transfer agent, you will ensure the smooth running of the share ownership transfer – between the former and new shares’ purchaser. You will thus provide essential information – such as share prices or subscription / redemption orders. Taking care of the distribution of dividends and commissions will also be a part of your daily routine. Your job of transfer agent requires you to work with shareholders, investors, and intermediaries.

    The transfer agent job is mainly present in financial services companies, investment funds or depository banks. Some recruitment agencies publish job offers on behalf of their clients. Luxembourg’s greatest recruiters are EFA – the European Fund Administration – State Street Bank, Ifds, Intertrust, Caceis, BNP Paribas, and so on.

    You must have at least a bachelor’s degree specialized in Finance, Banking, Economics or Management to start working as a Junior Transfer Agent. Although, we recommend you a master’s degree specialized in Finance Market as well as a good command of English and French. There are not many options to develop your career besides becoming Senior after several years of professional experience. It is although possible to change to positions in the securities field – such as Depositary Officer.
