There is currently an increasing need for professionals of the Health & Medical Care business sector as the Luxembourg’s population is increasing and aging. The country cannot train enough nurses to fulfill the lack of professionals in the different work environments.
As a nurse you will have several different assignments – such as take care and manage the file of a patient, create a specific care program adapted to each patient, give a treatment, work with others Health professionals namely doctors and auxiliary nurses. You can work in several different work environments – like hospitals, retirement homes, day nurseries, laboratories or even at the patients’ homes. CHL – which stands for Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg – is one of the greatest Luxembourg’s recruiters along with Bionext Lab, Ketterthill Laboratory, the Croix-Rouge luxembourgeoise, the City of Luxembourg, and the Hôpital Intercommunal de Steinfort.
You should know that the job of nurse is one of the positions regulated in Luxembourg – you will then need a license to work as a nurse in this country if you did not get this specific diploma here. Also depending on the country, you can become a nurse, if:
- you did a training course of four years in the LTPS – which means Lycée technique pour professions de santé – in Luxembourg.
- you did a training course of three years to become an “IDE” – which represents a State-certified diploma to work as a nurse – in a specialized school in France.
- you are currently doing a certificate or License specialized in nursing or hospital care in Belgium.
It is important to note that wages are high in Luxembourg. A young nurse can earn more than €4,300.00 gross per month, for instance. After getting professional experience, you can specialize in a sector and become Psychiatric nurse or childcare nurse, for instance.
