The profession of insurance broker is widespread in Luxembourg, it is mainly represented in insurance companies or in financial institutions such as banks. Insurance employers are for example: Bâloise Assurances, La Luxembourgeoise, Foyer, Axa, La Mondiale Europartner, Swiss Life, etc. Job offers are recurrent and makes it possible to cover the financial risks of both private individuals and professionals.
As an insurance broker – your job consists in selling insurance services, acting as an intermediary between the different parties involved: customers and insurers. After analysing the existing insurance offers (health, car, life, real estate...), you negotiate the contracts so that they correspond to the needs of the subscribing customer in terms of budget and risk coverage. You work as an intermediate and negotiate, propose solutions. You are always looking for the best price. Your job as commercial insurance advisor includes managing customer relations through follow-up and support (contract adjustment, claims, etc.).
You can access the job with at least a two-year degree. Professionalization courses are excellent vectors for employment. You can work as an insurance advisor without a diploma. Recruiters appreciate profiles with skills in sales, negotiation, and customer relations. You can work in a credit company, an insurance agency or as an independent agent, in your own office! In this case and in Luxembourg, the right to practice requires an approval and the validation of several exams.
