You are an accountant, with in-depth knowledge in investment fund management? Discover our job offers in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg
Fund accounting jobs are very popular in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. The country is known for the great offering of financial services and is also the first European investment fund center in terms of assets under management.
Among the main employers, we can mention banks, investment companies, accounting firms, fiduciaries, and service providers. Your main tasks consist in following and recording accounting operations, controlling, and valuing the portfolio securities of clients. Depending on the type of investment product, you will follow the transactions (sale or purchase of shares, obligations, securities…) and calculate the net asset values.
In Luxembourg, job advertisements for the role of accountant are numerous. However, recruiters are struggling to find and attract senior profiles, specialised in asset management. They are therefore open to junior candidates, with a first experience. Also, it is quite common to employ headhunters to help fill this key position.
Regarding the educational background, basic trainings include knowledge in accounting, finance management and control. Nevertheless, recruiters are seduced by accounting certification and degree: French DCG and DSCG are most required in job descriptions. If you want to impress them, you may want to put forward the CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certifications to enhance your application file.
To complete your job search, we advise you to use these key words: fund accounting, real estate accounting, private equity accounting. As a senior you may want to progress as a Manager Accounting or change job and join a consulting firm, or a legal firm.
If you want to make the difference, you will be required to have a proven experience as a senior. Besides, you must have in-depth knowledge in legal and tax, and fund accounting and be fluent in English. Regarding your professional competencies, you are asked to have interpersonal skills and be good at managing teams.
