TASK RESPONSIBILITIES:

As Manager Insurance & Claims, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the airline’s portfolio of aviation and non-aviation insurance policies and claims and will provide subject-matter expertise to the Cargolux group. The position plays a crucial role in the risk management of the airline.


The primary responsibilities include:

  • Management of Cargolux’ insurance policies ensuring appropriate coverage and compliance with relevant regulations
  • Working with insurers, brokers and the business to gather and review renewal information for the placement of Cargolux’ insurance policies
  • Review wordings, identify policy coverage gaps and propose clause improvements
  • Identify new insurable risks within the airline and make recommendations for effective management
  • Review and negotiate contractual insurance requirements to ensure that the required coverage is in line with the airline’s existing coverage and industry practice
  • Act as primary point of contact within the organization to answer insurance-specific queries
  • Supervision of claims handling, thereby ensuring that claims are adequately opened and followed-up and eventually settled
  • Contribute to the airline’s strategic projects by providing insurance expertise
  • Assume the role of primary insurance subject matter expert within the airline’s Emergency Response Team
  • Maintain accurate records related to insurance policies and associated claims
  • Prepare the airline’s insurance budget
  • Participate in Cargolux’ captive insurance company

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Law or a related field. Industry certifications are a plus
  • Proven experience in insurance management, claims handling or risk management
  • Very good understanding of applicable regulatory frameworks and compliance issues related to the insurance sector
  • Experience in logistics and/or aviation is considered a plus
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Intellectual curiosity, creative mind, and an appetite for continuous learning
  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency and be able to effectively manage deadlines
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills, with emphasis on negotiating and drafting agreements and attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully communicate with all levels of management, stakeholders, suppliers and customers
  • Consistent attention to detail, good judgment and the ability to effectively prioritize and timely produce high quality work product and to take direction as needed
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and maintain effective working relationships with internal clients and external customers
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, other languages (eg. French,German) seen as a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Position based in Luxembourg
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • A certificate of good conduct (casier judiciaire, Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis) will be required in case of a positive selection
  • Shortlisted candidates will have to undergo a managerial assessment
