Luxembourg is home to more than 43,000 companies and nearly 500,000 employees, including around 230,000 cross-border workers. Every year, STATEC publishes its ranking of the country's largest private employers. It offers valuable insight into the companies that contribute most to employment in Luxembourg and the sectors shaping its economy.
Key points to remember
Based on STATEC's annual salaried employment survey, this ranking is compiled using the workforce data reported by companies. However, a few important points should be noted:
- Participation in the survey is voluntary.
- Only private companies employing at least 90 people are included.
- The public sector and temporary employment agencies are not part of this ranking.

Employers reflecting the diversity of Luxembourg's economy
Beyond the figures, this ranking highlights the strength and diversity of Luxembourg's economy. The country's 20 largest private employers operate across a wide range of sectors, including business services, transport, retail, finance, industry, healthcare, catering and telecommunications.
While the financial sector remains a key pillar of Luxembourg's economy, with major players such as BNP Paribas, PwC, Deloitte and Crédit Agricole, the ranking also demonstrates the growing importance of service companies. Dussmann Luxembourg's rise to first place is a perfect example. Specialising in facility management, including cleaning, catering, maintenance and business support services, the company helps thousands of organisations across the country meet their day-to-day operational needs.
Finally, these major employers regularly recruit for a broad range of roles. While some positions require highly specialised skills and qualifications, many opportunities are also open to candidates with different levels of education and professional experience. It is a reminder that Luxembourg's job market extends far beyond the financial sector.
