First, it is important to know that the job of masseur-physiotherapist is regulated in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. If your diploma was awarded abroad, you will need to make your diploma recognised by the competent ministries of education and teaching. Then, you will have to apply for a licence to practise from the Ministry of Health. Furthermore, employers and the health system require you to be familiar with one of the three country's official languages: French, German, Luxembourgish.
Job ads are published occasionally on job sites, so we invite you to create an alert and follow the main recruiters: hospitals (Robert Schuman Hospitals, Steinfort Intercommunal Hospital, etc.), care structures (The Stëftung Hëllef Doheem Foundation, etc.), Rehazenter re-education and rehabilitation center, institutes. Do not forget to also consult the job opportunities in private practices.
The levels of education in Europe are quite similar, in general it takes 3 to 4 years of study to enter this profession. If you are a cross-border commuter, in France, you get the title of masseur-physiotherapist with a state diploma (MKDE), in Belgium, you have the title of Bachelor, or Master in kinesitherapy, and in Germany, you are Physiotherapeutin / Physiotherapeutin.
Job titles may vary according to your areas of expertise and job advertisements: masseur-physiotherapist, osteopath-physiotherapist, occupational therapist, psychomotor therapist. Recruitments may happen in the fields of sport, disability, pregnancy. More generally, your ability to treat different ills: muscles, joints, bones, neurological system, breathing... with different techniques: manual, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, thermotherapy, will enable you to present a solid application! The health sector is recruiting in Luxembourg! What are you waiting for to apply?
