History
February 1974: The Nikko Securities Co., Ltd. Tokyo, a Japanese securities company existing since 1918, established a wholly-owned subsidiary in Luxembourg, "The Nikko (Luxembourg) S.A.", which received a universal banking license from the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance on May 9, 1974.
April 1991: The Nikko (Luxembourg) S.A. changed its name to Nikko Bank (Luxembourg) S.A. and began to develop a Centre of Excellence in Fund Services.
October 2001: The Nikko Securities Co., Ltd was renamed Nikko Cordial Corporation as a holding company, which held Nikko Cordial Securities Inc. as a 100% owned securities subsidiary.
May 2007: Nikko Cordial Corporation became a subsidiary of Citigroup.
October 2009:Nikko Cordial Securities Inc. became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation ("SMBC") a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc. ("SMFG").
April 2011: Nikko Cordial Securities Inc. changed its name to SMBC Nikko Securities Inc.("SNS") and Nikko Bank (Luxembourg) S.A. changed its name to SMBC Nikko Bank (Luxembourg) S.A. ("SNBL").
October 2016: SMBC Nikko Securities Inc.("SNS") became a wholy-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc. ("SMFG")
