L’histoire de PIZZA HUT démarre en 1958, lorsque les deux frères CARNEY, ont l’idée d’ouvrir un « bar à pizzas » à proximité de leur collège à Wichita dans le Kansas (USA). Leur recette originelle était une pâte fine et croustillante et le concept relativement nouveau à l’époque.
Les deux frères comprennent rapidement le potentiel de leur entreprise. Ils empruntent 600$ à leur mère pour acheter des équipements d’occasion et louer un petit local à l’intersection de rues très passantes à Wichita. C’est la naissance du premier restaurant PIZZA HUT et les fondations de ce qui allait devenir la plus importante des compagnies de restaurants dans le monde.
Développement international
En 1977, Pizza Hut est achetée par le groupe PepsiCo et partagera sa position de leader avec la marque de sodas Pepsi Cola. En 1997. PepsiCo transfère sa branche restauration (Pizza Hut, KFC et Taco Bell) au sein de la société TRICON qui devient officiellement Yum ! Brands en 2002 avec le rachat des deux enseignes Long John Silver et AW.
Le Groupe Yum ! détient plus de 38.000 restaurants dans le monde.

Aujourd’hui Pizza Hut est présent dans plus de 110 pays dans le monde au travers de 13.000 restaurants. Les franchisés Pizza Hut illustrent l’esprit d’entreprise et possèdent plus de 80% des unités à l’enseigne Pizza Hut.
