The job of a webmaster or web administrator consists in designing, animating and maintaining one or more websites: managing bugs, ensuring the compatibility and integration of IT developments, etc. In addition to this, he or she may be in charge of editorial content, i.e. he or she will feed the website with content or manage a forum for example. In recent years, the job of webmaster in Luxembourg has experienced a visible evolution concerning the content of job advertisements. Indeed, he or she is more and more involved in hosting, SEO, and traffic analysis in order to optimise the editorial strategy. The webmaster works closely with web designers and web developers.

You can become a webmaster with a BAC+2 (BTS / DUT), but it is recommended to continue with a BAC+3 (Licence pro / Bachelor) or BAC+5 (Master) in order to acquire more advanced knowledge and skills. Remember that a webmaster must always keep up to date with trends and new tools in order to adapt to day-to-day work. After a few years of experience, a webmaster can apply for positions as web project manager, web developer or multimedia, web architect, web referencing, etc. Depending on these experiences, a webmaster can also pursue a career in marketing, e-commerce and digital communication.
