Historique
Le 18 novembre 1977 eut lieu l’assemblée constituante de la Ligue pour l’Aide aux Infirmes Moteurs Cérébraux. A l’époque, le Centre médico-pédagogique de Mondorf et l’Institut pour Infirmes Moteurs Cérébraux, gérés par l’Etat, proposaient aux enfants handicapés une vie scolaire adaptée à leur déficience, mais il n’existait pas de lieux où ils pouvaient profiter ensuite d’une formation professionnelle. La Ligue fit acquisition en décembre 1978, grâce au soutien financier de l’Etat, du site ‘Kräizbierg’, propriété de l’Arbed. Depuis, la ligue IMC, devenue ‘Fondation IMC Kräizbierg’ en 1982, puis ‘Fondation Kräizbierg’ en 1994, n’a cessé de développer ses structures pour répondre aux besoins des personnes atteintes d’un handicap physique.
Philosophie : le droit à l'épanouissement
Une personne handicapée doit être pleinement intégrée dans la vie quotidienne et participer au fonctionnement de notre société au même titre que les personnes plus valides. Il faut aider ces personnes à atteindre une certaine autonomie. La Fondation Kräizbierg fournit à la personne handicapée les moyens de cette ambition. Pour cela, elle gère des structures complémentaires dont le rôle est d’abord de former, puis de donner un métier à des personnes handicapées. Par ailleurs, elle offre des structures d'hébergement adaptées.
Le Centre de Propédeutique professionnelle
Au niveau formation, la Fondation possède à Dudelange une école privée agréée par l’Etat, le Centre de Propédeutique professionnelle. Cette école propose une formation générale et professionnelle à des adolescents et des adultes dans différents domaines : employé de bureau, poterie, jardinage, offset et sérigraphie. Grâce aux connaissances qu’ils acquièrent, les élèves peuvent ensuite envisager une vie active dans une entreprise, que ce soit dans le secteur privé ou au sein des Ateliers Kräizbierg, société coopérative.
