Summer is nearly here, with its arrival begging one of the most important questions of the year, where to go for those crisp summer beers or refreshing cocktails? Although it may be small, Luxembourg contains a wide range of different locations able to meet all types of niche demands. From beach bars and rooftops to more subdued, quiet terraces and quaint bars. Days of darkness and rain are gone, we now have the next few months to bask in the sun with our favourite drinks, in great places, with great company! Find the perfect spot for whatever your mood right here 👇

For the Cocktail Lovers

A long, hard day at work can be transformed by the simple delight of a cocktail and the city offers a plethora of places to enjoy some of the best. A multi award winning bar that will provide you with the finest the country has to offer is BAC, a small bar located in Pfaffenthal, where cocktails reign supreme. One of the few spots that solely use local products and what better way to display their talents than a Luxembourgish Margherita aptly named the Eislecker.

Notable mentions for good and classy cocktail bars are Shinzo on the Grand Rue, Bellamy in town or Madame Jeanette for a more Mexican cocktail experience. Or if its exclusivity you are looking for then head over to Lady Jane Bar which is a member’s bar where you need to join their private group (on Facebook) to receive the weekly password.

For the Wine Connoisseurs

If wine is your poison of choice then Bonne Nouvelle is the place for you! Three young entrepreneurs gave a new lease of life to a forgotten bus stop (Charly’s Gare), transforming it into a vibrant and trendy wine bar. The wines are expertly paired with delights from their kitchen, to which they regularly invite exciting chefs from around Europe. Further delightful wine bars are Cafetin Buenos Aires in the old town, Barrels in Limpertsberg and Pas Sage at the end of Grand Rue.

For the Sunshine Sippers

Luxembourg may be small but it does play host to many a good terrace where you can take in rays and consume some brisk beers or some iced tea. One of the largest the Grand Duchy has to offer is the Rotondes, with some snazzy decoration and a lively, young crowd accompanied by some great live music it is a must for every summer afterwork.

A terrace that only opens in summer but possibly has the best view of all of them is the Gudde Weather, owned by the same people as the Gudde Wëllen, it looks over all of the Grund and they have a selection of fine drinks. A more peaceful, picturesque terrace is down in the Grund namely Scott’s Pub which has an amazing setting on the Alzette river in the old town, perfect for a quieter evening! And for those looking for a beach atmosphere, the Elch Beach Club in Bertrange is the perfect summer getaway.

For the Party Goers

Then there is also spaces to accommodate the more party hungry amongst us, with one of the newer places being the Infinity complex on a Thursday. Always full due to there being a happy hour and its proximity to Kirchberg’s offices. An array of different bars that provide plenty of places to explore your options.

A more central place is the Marché aux Herbes, which is a street full of bars just on the same street as the palace. Go Ten, Llama and Urban amongst other provide you with an evening in a lively place to enjoy whichever beverages your heart desires! If both of these options do not please you then there is always the Clausen area that should provide you with some sort of atmosphere.
