If you're wondering what to do in Luxembourg during your free time, this article is made just for you! Find all the recommendations of spots to discover, according to an expert infuencer of the Grand Duchy, weloveluxembourg.

Who is @weloveluxembourg?

Since 2018, Marine, a young French expat in Luxembourg, shares her daily life with her followers on Instagram (they will soon be 20k!) via the @weloveluxembourg Instragram account.

Already a big photography lover, she came up with the idea to create an account on this social network and share her experiences across the country.

Today, as a young mompreneur, the influencer is always keen to share with her community her favorite places in the Grand Duchy, but also to highlight activities, events and small Luxembourgish businesses.

Where to eat in Luxembourg?

Gastronomy

The Grand Duchy is the best place if you love gastronomy! There is something for every taste, thanks to its rich culture. You will be able to enjoy food from all over the world.

Fortunately, our expert influencer has prepared a selection of addresses to try right away, whatever your favorite cuisine is:

  • Italian: the restaurant La Torre, for its succulent pizzas,
  • Mexican: the restaurant and tequila bar, Agave,
  • Spanish: the coffee, restaurant and bar, La Tapería for its famous tapas,
  • Lebanese: Chiche! for its combination of authentic dishes,
  • Portuguese: Piri Piri, in the Kirchberg district,
  • Greek: Athena, the best rated,
  • Moroccan: Le Riad, not far from the train and bus station,
  • Chinese: Le palais de Chine, close to the Grand Ducal Palace,
  • Japanese: the Kobe, for its delicious sushi.

Below, you will find all her recommendations, divided into different categories.

Brunch

There are many possibilities for brunch in Luxembourg, but her two favorite spots are 24 Brunch & Cocktails located in Esch-Sur-Alzette (for their eggs Benedict), and the not to be missed in Luxembourg city, the Paname.

Lunch

For a weekday lunch: meet her at Guillou Campagne in Schouweiler (one star in the Michelin guide).

Why? An affordable menu and exceptional quality. Fresh products, incredible dips, and delicious desserts.

Pasta

For pasta lovers, head to Divino in Vinissimo, in the Cloche d'or neighborhood. Enjoy a pasta dish in the middle of a large Italian grocery store, that is made with good and authentic products!

Also, the Chef Alessandro Vannelli has just been named 2023 "Mediterranean of the Year" by Gault&Millau.

Traditional dish

No need to wait until the end of the year to taste Luxembourg's specialties on the Christmas markets! Her favorite restaurants for traditional dishes are Le Jardin Gourmand in Hesperange and Brideler Stuff in Bridel.

Coffee

Her favorite: Bloom coffee shop! For its cosy and warm atmosphere, its terrace and its menu!

She also recommends BraVo Café, which can be found everywhere in Luxembourg city on its scooter.

Bar

Visit the Clausen, the Upper Town, the Old Town or the Train Station districts to discover the numerous bars, wine bars, coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs.

Go downtown to enjoy a nice afterwork. For a pub crawl, the Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes is the place to be! Lots of bars, lots of choice.

For an evening with friends: go to the restaurant Um Plateau for the “trendiness”, the atmosphere, and the delicious tapas.

Another nice atmosphere at the Glacis, try the Hitch for its all-in-one concept: have a drink, stay for dinner with friends and you'll see the restaurant slowly upgrade to a dancefloor!

Shopping

Between small authentic boutiques, luxury stores and shopping centers near the city center, Luxembourg has a very diversified offer, adapted to all wallets.

Head downtown for the beautiful boutiques, or to the Cloche d'or when the weather is not so good. There you can enjoy more than 100 different stores, while having access to free parking places.

Tourism

Having a car in Luxembourg is ideal to get around and discover the country in every inch of it. But, since public transport are free and serves the whole country, it is also very easy to enjoy Luxembourg's landscapes by bus or train.

Here are two must-see spots for a little sightseeing, according to the influencer:

For a nice hike, go to the Mullerthal trails, in the north of the country. Many trails are accessible depending on your sport level, and you will discover breathtaking views.

Finally, for those who love wine, let’s meet at the vineyards of Remich in the Luxembourg Moselle and enjoy a wine tasting in a nice domain, for example at Domaine Henri Ruppert or Domaine Claude Bentz.
