It’s gone by so fast, back to work already! It’s not easy getting back to work after the holidays. To make the return a little less painful, the Moovijob.com team shares its own "back to reality" experience, along with a few handy tips for easing back into office life. Let’s go!

Tip no. 1: Start with a good breakfast

You might be feeling a bit anxious about your first day back, so why not treat yourself? Prepare something you really enjoy the night before: French toast, muffins, a full English breakfast… whatever makes you happy! Starting the day with something delicious will give you a good reason to get out of bed and help you avoid those mid-morning cravings as your body clock might still be a bit off.

Feeling tired before you’ve even left the house? There’s always the “pastries at the office” option. Your colleagues will love it, and it might even make up for a slight delay!

Tip no. 2: Wipe the slate clean, it’s a fresh start

No stress if you’re feeling a bit out of touch. Remember, you were on well-deserved holidays! If you took your time off now, it’s probably because this was a quieter period (in theory, at least). It’s perfectly normal not to have cleared your entire to-do list before leaving. Use your first few days back to catch up on what’s new

This is always a bit of a special moment, you’re starting fresh, recharged and with a calmer mind. Take your new resolutions in both hands and dive straight back in. This is also a great opportunity to make a good impression by showing enthusiasm and motivating your team.

Tip no. 3: Give your emails the attention they deserve

You’ll be relieved to know that out of the 500 emails you received in two weeks, three-quarters are probably just spam! Sorting through your inbox will likely take the whole day, so take the time to do it properly. We recommend prioritising tasks by flagging important messages, deleting spam (but don’t empty the bin just yet), and double-checking your junk folder in case something slipped through. Oh look, it’s already 11:45am, nearly time for a break

Pro tip: Write yourself a to-do list and tick things off as you go, the sense of satisfaction will grow with every task completed!

Tip no. 4: Plan a lunch out with colleagues

At Moovijob.com, the first day back from holidays is often a friendly occasion where the whole team gets together to share stories from their time off. It’s a lovely way to ease into work again in good spirits and with plenty of laughter.

Tip no. 5: Keep your evening free to relax and recover from the first day

You’ve woken up earlier, spent more energy than usual, it’s normal to feel drained by the evening. The second day is often the toughest, as that’s when the fatigue really kicks in. Rest up and go to bed early, you’ll thank yourself in the morning

And finally, if you’re feeling a bit down about the current weather, start thinking about your next holiday already
