Internship or thesis – Slag Flow Simulation (m/f/d)

Slag is a coproduct of the steel industry, if cooled quickly it can be valued in the cement industry. Dry slag granulation is one of the process allowing such a quick cool down process. The principle is to pour liquid slag into a high velocity air stream.
Your main tasks:
- Investigations on the granulation process and modelling possibilities
- Establish design rules in order to dimension the dry slag installation
- Sensitivity study on the design parameters
- Compare the results and create a guideline of design principles.
What do we expect?
- Master studies in mechanical engineering
- Fluent in English, and either French or German
- Basic knowledge in a 3D solid modelling software
- Strong analytical mindset and independent research capability
- High degree of initiative and responsibility and willingness to fully invest yourself in the assigned projects.
