Ala Presenti’s journey is one of courage, ambition and vision. After starting her career in corporate finance, she made the bold move to leave the comfort of a secure job to launch Investre, a pioneering fintech company. Named among the Top 5 European Women in Tech, Ala continues to inspire through her entrepreneurial spirit, her belief in meaningful innovation, and her mission to empower women in the tech industry.

Building a career across borders

Originally from Moldova, Ala moved to Romania at the age of 15 and relocated to Luxembourg ten years ago. Last year, she proudly became a Luxembourgish citizen. "There’s no place in the world where I’d rather live now," she says with a smile.

"Luxembourg gives you the space and the trust to build."

From an early age, Ala knew she wanted to build things that matter and began her professional journey early. While starting university at 20, she initially wanted to study law, but also applied for a finance scholarship. She then got accepted to both, but chose finance, which she later didn’t regret. At the same time, she landed her first job in a corporate finance and banking environment. Initially part-time, she quickly transitioned to full-time "I was juggling deadlines, reports, and exams - living two full-time lives at once," she recalls. "But in a competitive world, experience is everything."

By the time she graduated, Ala had not only earned her diploma but also gained three years of solid corporate experience as a junior accountant, setting her apart in an environment where everyone seeks talent with experience. It was only the beginning of her bold climb.

She then moved to Luxembourg to join one of the Big Four firms. Her move to Luxembourg was initially for family reasons, but upon visiting, she fell in love with the city’s charm and opportunities, recognising it as a hub for finance.

Over five years as a junior auditor, she advanced to manager, relishing both the learning opportunities and the people she worked with. The creation of Investre, she says, was a perfect example of the power of networking: "It was a mix of being in the right place, at the right time."

Pioneering a new era of investment in Luxembourg

In 2020, Ala made one of the boldest decisions of her career: leaving a secure corporate position to co-found Investre, alongside entrepreneur George Bock. Their mission was to reshape the way people invest and to bring the power of blockchain into the heart of asset management. "It was risky," she admits.

"We started during the global pandemic, without salaries or certainty. But we had conviction. We knew the future of investing had to be digital, and it had to be built on trust and transparency."

As CFO and Executive Director, Ala oversees finance, HR, and administration and admits that initially she had no idea what the role would entail, as it’s not something taught at school or university "When you build a company, there’s no manual," she laughs. "You just have to figure it out, every day."

Today, Investre is rewriting Luxembourg’s financial history. The company became the first officially approved Controlling Agent under the country’s new Blockchain Law IV, pioneering a secure and regulated bridge between traditional finance and tokenised assets.

Through its retail platform, Moniflo, Investre empowers people to invest in multiple funds digitally, and that simply, transparently, and with purpose. "Every euro you invest creates an impact, good or bad," Ala says. "Our mission is to make people aware of that power and to make investing accessible to everyone."

The company continues to expand both Moniflo and its Controlling Agent services, building the first infrastructure of its kind in Luxembourg and positioning itself at the forefront of Europe’s digital finance revolution.

Empowering women in Tech

According to the latest Global Gender Gap report by the World Economic Forum, published in June 2023, women represent 29.2% of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professionals worldwide, and 24% in Luxembourg.

Recently, Ala was named among the Top 5 European Women in Tech and won the start-up award at the Women in Tech Europe Awards 2025 in Brussels. "It was a big surprise… I’m extremely proud to have discovered this community, and I’ll continue to volunteer with them," she says. She also took part in a tech conference in Kosovo, supporting women entering the tech field.

When Ala started Investre, she was one of the few women in a male-dominated environment. "When I started, I was often the only woman in the room. Today, most of our team members are women, not because of quotas, but because they’re exceptional at what they do."

She encourages women to embrace curiosity, keep learning, and build confidence.

"Women often undersell themselves. But confidence is a muscle, you build it by doing."

Ala admits she always gives female candidates a second look. Her belief is simple but powerful: merit first, opportunity for all. "I want women to know they belong here in tech, in finance, in leadership. You don’t need to wait until you’re "ready". You become ready by starting."

Ala adds that personal development played a key role in her own journey: "When you go somewhere, you only have one chance to make a good impression. It’s about being prepared and being the best version of yourself."

For Ala, business isn’t just about numbers. It’s about purpose. "Money is a tool," she says. "You use it to build, to serve, to empower. It’s not about accumulating wealth - it’s about creating value that lasts."

A vision for the future

After years of planning and goal setting, Ala is now learning to live in the moment. Today, she’s focused on growing Investre and Moniflo, strengthening Luxembourg’s role as a hub for digital finance, and keeping pushing boundaries.

"I’m not chasing titles or plans anymore," she smiles. "My goal is simple, to be the best version of myself every day, and to create a positive impact in the lives of others."

Looking ahead, Ala sees a bright future for Luxembourg’s tech scene. The country has incredible potential. She has seen much more digitalisation and investment over the past years and is impressed by the authorities’ support.
