With numerous medals won across several categories, this major success has shone a spotlight on Luxembourg’s skills and training programmes.
A historic success
From 9 to 13 September, EuroSkills, the European championship of vocational skills for young people, took place. The Luxembourg team distinguished itself with an outstanding performance.
Luxembourg sent a team of 19 competitors to take part in the event, which brought together over 600 participants from across Europe. These 19 candidates were supported by experts who coached and accompanied them throughout the competition.
The landscaping team, made up of Nico Fuchs, Florian Theisen, and expert Annick Lesch, won the silver medal in the landscaping category. The remaining candidates also achieved four medals of excellence in the categories of automobile technology, web technologies, hotel reception, and plumbing & heating. These distinctions recognise performances exceeding 700 points, often just shy of the podium.
Among other nations, France topped this year’s edition with 17 medals, closely followed by Germany with 15.

The impact of these results
Luxembourg’s remarkable performance is part of a long-term strategy that began with the organisation of national championships to select candidates, alongside intensive training programmes. The goal now is to build on this success at the WorldSkills 2026 in Shanghai and, above all, at the next EuroSkills in 2027 in Düsseldorf, which Luxembourg will co-organise.
This success also offers Luxembourg excellent visibility throughout Europe, showcasing both the high quality of its workforce and the prestige of its vocational training.
