Senior Design Engineer (m/f/d)


As a Senior Design Engineer, you will integrate into our “Iron Production Plant & Layout” department in Luxembourg, which is part of the Center of Competence Iron / Metallurgy.

You will be involved in most of our company's industrial projects, interacting with customers and sub-contractors all over the world. You will work in a project-orientated engineering team together with plant engineers and designers from various engineering disciplines and entities.

In the role of a senior design engineer, you will mainly work in the ironmaking sector. You will be responsible for the plant layout development as well as for the execution of concept and basic engineering for blast furnace and green ironmaking projects. However, it also allows you to work as a creative and open-minded engineer and give you the possibility to drive our innovative products forward.

As a globally active plant engineering company for large size projects and technology provider in the ironmaking industry, we offer the possibility to work actively on CO2 reduction, green iron making and other innovative plant developments like E-Fuels or H2 production.


Your main tasks:

  • Concept & basic engineering for large size industrial projects, mainly in the blast furnace field
  • Support in the preparation of technical offers to our customers
  • Preparation of bill of quantities
  • Best technical solution finding & design to cost
  • Elaboration of lists of deliverables and their follow-up. (internal & external)
  • Supervision, coordination and control of sub-contractors carrying out engineering work for the projects
  • Analyzing the impact and integrating the outcome of different disciplines. (steel structure, piping, mechanics, plate works etc.)
  • Participation in design review meetings.

What do we expect?

  • Degree in mechanical or civil engineering or in other comparable technical fields
  • Min. 7 years of experience as an engineer within the industrial field of ironmaking
  • Strong command in AutoCAD Mechanical and knowledge in 3D design software. (e.g. CREO or AVEVA)
  • Strong knowledge in 3D design review software (i.e. NavisWorks)
  • Strong knowledge in applicable European Standards for engineering & construction
  • Common understanding of plant engineering and construction, considering also the impact of other engineering disciplines
  • Design capabilities, considering the plant surrounding as well as later fabrication & erection feasibility
  • International mindset and willingness to travel worldwide
  • Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills combined with a structured way of working
  • Commitment & enjoyment of new challenges
  • Ability to work in/together with engineering teams of different fields and disciplines, as well as with sub-contractors
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage numerous assignment simultaneously
  • Fluent in English; German and/or French language skills is considered as an advantage.
