Engineering Manager - Aubange (BE)


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Manage the capital project portfolio for the Aubange plant, working with site management and corporate engineering to ensure we are executing capital aligned with business objectives.
  • Accountable for execution of capital projects from conceptualization through start up, in accordance with Michelman’s stage gate process
  • Prepare the annual capital budget as well as working with the corporate engineering team to establish a 5-year capital forecast for the region.
  • Manage the maintenance team and contractors to ensure projects are prioritized effectively and executed safely, on time, and on budget
  • Overall accountability for the site maintenance management system, ensuring all assets are in the system with the correct maintenance and spare parts strategies to drive reliability and uptime
  • Accountable for leading day to day activities of and developing the maintenance team
  • Consistently evaluate resource levels and methods to improve productivity and/or reduce costs
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department and plant
  • Any other responsibilities assigned my management


Critical Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Ability to manage staff and contractors consisting of individuals with diverse experience, education, and background
  • Experience managing capital projects
  • Experience working with computerized maintenance management software
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software
  • Familiarity with common chemical processing equipment and control systems (e.g. Reactors, Pumps, Valves, Instruments, PLCs, Etc)
  • Willing to take initiative and constantly striving for improvement
  • Able to multi-task in an environment often subject to various demands and need for quick decisions
  • Understanding of basic profit and loss concepts associated with the business environment
  • Fluent in English and French


Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in chemical manufacturing environment
  • At least five (5) years of experience leading and mentoring others
